Shanghai Fab-Union Architectural Technology and Digital Fabrication Co., Ltd (Fab-Union) is a company specializing in technological design, research, development, and practice of “digital design and intelligent construction” in architecture. After ten years of research, Fab-Union has realized and integrated model for human-machine collaboration in the construction life-cycle, including design, optimization, and fabrication. Fab-Union has also established the Fab-union digital design and construction Internet platform, invented series of patented technologies based on two major construction scenarios——“prefabricated” and “in-situ”. Our team developed a variety of intelligent building technologies based on materials types, and have been successfully realized in several projects. Fab - R&D Center integrates experiments, testing, trial production together, and it is a digital fabrication research & development platform.
It adheres 1:1 scale mockup in order to test new robotic construction technologies, therefore, it has a strong software & hardware R&D capability & multi-disciplinary research team. It has more than 20 robot arms of various models along with end effectors and related supporting equipments developed for different technologies.
All researchers are working closely with the robots and related equipments to test new construction workflows and carry out trial production.
Fab-Union has an experienced multi-disciplinary research team. Most researchers have master’s or doctor’s degrees from top universities at home and abroad. The academic background of the researchers covers architecture design, mechanics engineering, electrical engineering, computer science and many other disciplines. All the researchers from different disciplines work closely together to use customized robot to eliminate barriers between imagined design and constructed reality.
